Do you or your organization have a need for a free computer? Do you know someone who could really use their very own PC? Get in touch and let me know how I can help! You can send an email, use the form below, or call or text 860-339-9887.
I will deliver a fully functioning PC that has been aggressively cleaned and erased, then reset to factory condition. If it's a classic, you'll get better than new with parts and specs that the factory probably didn't even have available at the time!
I am not giving out junk, but overall performance can be very subjective depending on what you do and what your expectations are. Offerings can vary from hot-rodded classics from as early as 2008 to almost brand new PC's that someone just wasn't using. All must meet basic minimum requirements, but please let me know if you have any specific needs or expectations!
I am coming up with a performance level system that will be described on a separate page, linked here. Coming soon!
Desktop: Great for hard work! I find it much easier and more comfortable to do work at a desk with a full sized keyboard and monitor. Desktops are most often your typical box (or "tower") with a separate monitor, but are sometimes combined into one piece like an iMac or an all-in-one Windows PC. Easier to repair and upgrade, but not very portable!
Laptop: Portable and popular! You have a battery to worry about and life varies based on things like screen size, features, processing power, and of course age, but the portability is often worth it. Features and capability can vary widely, so let me know what you need it to be able to do and I'll try and find you the right model.
Windows: The most common, for sure! Whatever software you need to run, it's almost surely available for Windows. Constantly updating and highly customizable if you know where to look. Windows 10 is still currently the standard and will be supported all the way into 2025, but Windows 11 is here and can be used if you prefer and if your PC can run it.
Mac OS: Familiar and user-friendly! iPhones reign supreme so many of us are very familiar with Apple's style. Many schools choose Macs as well, and it's always great to use at home what you use at school. Macs aim to be easy to use and take care of a lot of the background details for you.
Linux: For the adventurous! Linux comes in a huge number of flavors to suit almost anything with a processor. If you have an Android phone, you already use Linux! Most versions are totally free and many can be used with no expertise and have some really cool features. Or if you're curious about how computers work or want to get into programming, Linux is also a great gateway into learning how to tinker with your computer. Software options are often quite different, but also often free!
